Forrest Griffin is my favorite MMA,UFC fighter.He use to be in the lime-light all the time,always something going on with him.But it seem’s like the past year or so he’s fading off.I realize they’ve gotta give newcomer’s front seat attention.But shoot,what about the good old one’s?I hear he’s got a fight on Aug.8th,but haven’t heard anything else on him in quite a while.Anyone out there know what his status is now-a-days?

WELL he is my all time favorite fighter and i am pretty up beat on whats going on with him. he won his LHW title last year via decision. beating rampage jackson .he hurt his fist in his fight with rashad where he lost his title via tko to strikes. he has since got surgery on it , he got pins and plates put in it. and then got a bad case of staph infection which he was fighting off with strong anti biotics. but he is all healed and healthy now and is training at extreme couture gym for his fight with anderson silva at ufc 101 in philadelphia in august. anderson is moving up to 205 to challenge him. warrrrr forrest.

‘Five Rings’ fighter and Byron Bay local boy Raad Brewer has conquered Sydney’s ‘Gracie Barra’ fighter Hugh Cameron in the first event of the new Underground MMA series. Both fighters looked the part in what has been described as a fight as good as any top UFC bout.

A gruelling battle ensured as they traded a variety of awesome submission attempts and strikes, with some even more amazing escapes demonstrating the level of MMA that exists now in Australia. Later in the bout referee Daniel Lima stopped the fight a few times to allow Hugh Cameron to attend to an eyebrow cut that threatened to end the fight, the result of one of Raads many forearm drop strikes. The fight was allowed to reach the final bell with the judges awarding a split decision win to the 5 Rings fighter. At this stage Brewer remains undefeated with a 6 and 0 record.

Okay I KNOW THIS QUESTION HAVE BEEN ASKED A THOUSAND TIMES by other people, but all the questions i look at does not really help me.
so anyways, i’ve been asking my mom for a dog for a long time and all she ever says is no. i ask her hwy and she says because they are dirty, and she doesn’t want to pay for the vet bill if the dog gets hurt. ( we have the money, but the real reason is she thinks it is dirty and that i wouldn’t take care of it) i have offered to help pay for the dog but she always says "no your not gonna take care of it."
a few years ago i had a total of about 8 pets, 2 of them were betta fish, and the other 6 were parakeets. i took care of the fishes, but not so much the birds, this is because i was TERRIFIED of the birds and i was about 8 or 10. i fed the birds myself sometimes when i was brave enough to do so. But it was mostly my parents and brother who fed them. Now, my mom always says that ive never taken care of my pets. that’s a lie, i have taken care of my fishes, but not so much birds cause they were scary, and always tried to bite me when i changed the water and add food.
So any ways i want a dog really bad, Im responsible. i do all my work and work hard in school. and i’ve taken care of my friends dog before. But my mom doesn’t want one because she thinks i wouldn’t take care of it. she doesn’t want dogs to shed, poop and pee in our house, and i said i would train it and get that doesn’t shed much. but still no.

I volunteer at a animal shelter near me recently, where i helped clean the cages, interact with the dogs, and other things…. and i saw a Pit Bull i really wanted. Its not because i wanted to look cool with such a "bad A** dog". Pit Bulls are really nice animals. and playful. But this dog in particular caught my eye. Shes really beautiful and not that big. Pit Bulls dint shed much so i thought she would be perfect, She never barked when i was taking care of her or when i washed the cages at the Animal shelter. Shes really nice and quiet. But that’s not the only reason i want this dog, the other main reason is if no one adopts her she’ll be put down, and i didn’t want that. So now i really want to convince my mom to get me a dog, cause 1) i always wanted one 2) i love animals except birds 3) i didn’t want that dog to be put down, because shes really nice.
you’d think a great dog like that would be adopted, but no, people are scared of pit bulls because i what they see on the news about dog fighting and pit bull attacks. Besides, if im not responsible and "didn’t take care of my pets" why would i volunteer at an animal shelter? and i took care of my fishes, and birds sometimes. How could i convince my mom?
The dog has been there for a few weeks already, i’ve watch people walk by her cage, glance at her and move on to the next dog, not even giving her a second look. and im not accusing all people to be afraid of Pit Bulls, they are nice sweet dog. Jeez, im trying to convince my mom to let me rescue the dog, ive talked to the workers at the shelter and they said they are going to have to put her down soon if no one adopts her. i dont care how long it fucking takes to train a dog, im patient, and i would play and walk with her, if i ever get her. We have a big yard for her. I deal with Dogs at the animal shelter all the time, I JUST DONT WANT HER TO DIE

Go see a Consular at school and tell the consular you are having problems, and convince her that a dog will be the best Solution and hopefully the consular will write up a note to your parents stating they believe a pet dog will be a good therapy for you. Well this would be a long shot for you. BUT
on the onther hand after reading your story I would be conviced to give you a chance to prove me wrong as a mother. You are already kind of taking care of that dog, you volunteer your time so you already have a good understanding of how much work and time it is to take care of a dog and show you are committed and serious and willing to help pay. I’m a mother with 3 kids. SO you have me convinced. But also as a mother bit bulls would not be by choice and I would have you choose another dog breed and go from there and make you do your research on dog breeds and hyperness and so on. WHy you are at school, how hyper active will your dog be and will they be in a safe place so the dog is n ot chewing up everything or peeing everywhere. A dog is no different from having a child and if you spend the night some where you would have to find a dog sitter. You can not expect your brother or mom to take care of it, such as taking out to go pee, feeding and excerise time. While you are away. If you and your family leaves on vacation you need to figure out how to find a sitter or pay for a kennel to watch your dog and really need to train your dog. Because people are quick to sue your family for eveything they have if your dog bites another person or animal. Also if you plan to leave dog outside and barks alot. They city can fine your family over $200. in my city your dog can only bark for 15 mins once a day in 3 days in a ten day frame. SO hopefully you have nice neighbors. SO there is alot to consider and tell you think everything through and present it to your mom with a proposal that shows you have tought about every angel of having a dog and how how you will take care of there things. You might have a good chance to convince your mom. Also there are pet insurance for about $20 a month that will cover any care for a healthy dog. That could win your mom over also if you show you can pay for it some how. GOOD LUCK to you!

Rampage vs. Henderson

Yeah I’m excited, I write for a new MMA magazine, I don’t get paid yet but its good for exposure (I’m going to school to be a sports writer) and if the magazine takes off I’ll get to go to events for free and interview fighters. So even though I would pay the $40 for the PPV its nice to get to a break and watch quality MMA for free.

This fight is going to be huge! the first MMA belt unification and its free for the whole world to see! This can only bring in more fans to the Mixed Martial Arts phemonon, hopefully they don’t go home thinking its called Ultimate Fighting

And I don’t understand this whole boxing vs MMA thing. They are 2 completely different sports, its just like jiu-jitsu, new fans say that it looks like dry humping, but if you know whats going on then you understand the sweet science behind it. Just like boxing, that one of the good things is you don’t have to worry about someone taking you down so can master your techique. However boxing is dyeing by itself even if the UFC wasn’t taking off. If you want to stay a big name and keeping making millions per fight you have to win (unless your De La Hoya). So fighters like Floyd Mayweather come in, and bore us to death. Yes he is a master of boxing, he can bob and weeve and avoid punishment but he is not aggressive, and while its a problem in MMA its a huge problem in boxing, that being fighting not to lose rather than fighting to finish your opponent. De La Hoya/Mayweather was supposed to save boxing and instead it pushed it farther into the grave. It just wasn’t entertaining to watch. But its like Jiu-Jitsu in that it is very technical and you have to know whats going on to appriciate it. The fans of old are slowly dying off and todays combat sports fan (mostly younger) are into the more fast paced and brutal. I hope boxing doesn’t die but cleans up its act there is a alot of history in boxing and MMA is still building its history.

(Comment) Petruzelli told the radio station that Elite XC promoters "hinted to me, and they gave me the money, to stand and trade with Slice. They didn’t want me to take him down. Let’s just put it that way."

The mixed martial arts world is abuzz by post-fight comments made by Seth Petruzelli, the little-known, last-minute replacement on CBS’ national broadcast of Elite XC fights Saturday who needed only 14 seconds to knock out popular heavyweight Kimbo Slice.

On Monday, while speaking to a Florida radio station about his stunning victory over Elite XC’s biggest star, Petruzelli said he was approached by promoters before the bout and encouraged to fight Slice standing up, rather than wrestling him to the mat. That would have played to the strength of Slice, a former street fighter famous for his fights shown on YouTube.

Slice has been the main draw for Elite XC in three nationally televised fights this year. He was scheduled to fight MMA veteran Ken Shamrock last weekend, but Shamrock suffered a cut eye. Petruzelli, who was outweighed by 29 pounds, was put in as Slice’s opponent.

In a sport followed by legions of fans — with many already skeptical of Slice’s MMA credentials — reaction to his loss was immediate and harsh.

"It’s stuff like this that will hurt MMA much more so than the whole Kimbo charade," Steve Barry wrote on MMAconvert.com. "People got sick of boxing because of all the corruption, and while this is nowhere near the level of what’s taken place in boxing, it all starts somewhere, and it’s a road I hope we never see mixed martial arts go down."

Petruzelli has since retreated on his radio comments. And Elite XC officials deny they did anything more than urge Petruzelli to fight an "exciting" match.

Still, Petruzelli’s original statements raised some concerns within the MMA community about the lengths a financially struggling company would go to protect its biggest name fighter.

Pro Elite, Inc., Elite XC’s parent company based in Los Angeles, reported first-half losses this year of $24.4 million and Showtime Networks has had "exploratory discussions" to acquire assets of the company, according to an SEC filing.

"What happened on CBS makes me sick to my stomach. It disgusts me," said Dana White, president of the sport’s dominant organization, Ultimate Fighting Championship. "I’ve been working . . . for 10 years now to show the world what an amazing sport this is, and what amazing people are in it. It goes against everything the UFC stands for."

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Slice made his reputation with several underground bouts that became wildly popular on the Internet. In his first MMA-sanctioned bout, Slice knocked out former heavyweight boxer Ray Mercer. Elite XC then signed Slice and the company hoped to profit from the fighter’s popularity in nationally televised fights.

But Slice lost some credibility during his third-round victory over James Thompson in May, when Slice spent several minutes getting pummeled on the mat during the second round. And Slice’s quick knockout loss on Saturday didn’t provide CBS with a compelling main event for an audience of 4.5 million viewers.

"Seth Petruzelli beating Kimbo did nothing for no one except Seth Petruzelli," said Frank Shamrock, CBS’ MMA analyst and an Elite XC fighter.

Elite XC officials have spent this week explaining Petruzelli’s radio comments.

Jeremy Lappen, Elite XC fight operations chief, said, "Press reports that EliteXC suggested or paid money to . . . Petruzelli to keep his fight against Kimbo Slice off the ground are false. . . .

"Seth Petruzelli was offered a fee to fight Kimbo Slice, plus a knockout bonus, a common practice throughout the industry. Elite XC organizes and promotes fights. We have not, do not, and will not suggest or dictate fighters’ strategies or tactics. How the fighters perform in the cage is at the sole discretion of the athletes involved."

Petruzelli has since tried to clarify that the "money" he earned for standing and trading punches with Slice was the knockout bonus.

But Elite XC consultant Gary Shaw said he wouldn’t hesitate to "go to a fighter and say, ‘We’re looking for a stand-up fight.’ You’re not asking him to throw a fight. You’re talking about a fan-friendly fight, not about protecting Kimbo."

Shaw said he has urged MMA fighters in the past to maximize the action, to avoid an abundance of yawn-inspiring wrestling.

"Do I think that’s unethical? No," Shaw said. "Because in MMA, you get bonus money for a knockout. I don’t see it as unethical . . . asking him to be TV and fan friendly."

Meanwhile, questions persist about whether Elite XC tried to protect Slice from a loss. When Ken Shamrock bowed out of the fight, Frank Shamrock, a former UFC champion (and Ken’s adopted brother) said he volunteered to fight Slice.

Slice instead selected Petruzelli.

"It would’ve been great TV, and Kimbo losing to me, a respected veteran, would’ve been OK," Sha

Kimbo Slice is a terrible thing for the sport… He’s just a brawler… and a bad one at that.

There’s always going to be a problem with rigged fights… happens in every sport (even tennis is under investigation for thrown matches). Thankfully… this one didn’t go Kimbo’s way.

Shinici Okada dominates this fight against Morris, not letting it go to ground to protect a recent foot injury, the result was a punch and kick war that went the distance, leaving Morris’s face bloodied and both fighters exhausted. An excellent effort from Morris against a tough and experienced opponent, although he was responding aggressively, he was unable to connect well. Okada ducking and weaving his opponent, landing some awesome strikes in the midst of it.
