It’s made it on a level with the rivers and the seas
Like oil on the water, like a terminal disease
It’s rough upon the surface but it’s jelly underneath
Of the side effects the chemicals can imitate speech
I know it sounds crazy but these words are not me
They are nothing more than syllables that bought their way free
From behind the white canary cage created by my teeth
When the walls became coroded by the poisons on the breeze *Break*
The waves are rising higher, pile-driving on the beach
A Juggernaut’s devouring the houses cars and trees
See them on the swaying, see them slaves to hellish beasts
See them in the moment they realize you’re out of reach

Who’ll ever make it if we can’t hold out the night
We put bars on all the windows so they hold us long and tight
So we can all relax and keep our angst in pants inside
And if that fails we’ll climb on the roof and hail a passing flight

Where it matters most we are always uninsured
There’s no sympathy for weaknesses or mercy for the poor
Invulnerably I walk along with dignity and health
Feeling like I am eternal in my constant sense of self
In truth I know my entire life’s a battle for control
I am only here as long as I can fight to keep my soul
Given time I I’ll lose my grip and I will have to face the cold
Bitter winds that take me far away from family and home
It will start inside my hands and feet then crawl along my spine
It will eat its way through every single fiber of my mind
It will stop my very thoughts and leave me frozen to the core
But I’ll be fine I’ve lost my head a thousand times before
I have stomped my way through hurricanes and struggled through the snow
I have marched my way through battlefields until I stood alone
I was never so delusional to think I’ll never go
But my self is not my beating heart or the voice inside my skull
No man can ever kill me and no death can bring me down
Though the shell that I have traveled in is buried underground
In life I’ve been a writer and my words were written down
I’ve made melodies and music that you’re listening to now
I have read a million books and had a million different thoughts
But I never mistook anything for who I truly was
The energy that courses through my veins will not be lost
I have left my fingerprints on everything I’ve ever touched
And though inside my stream of thoughts I’ll always stand alone
I’ll feed my very life into the dirt and into stone
And a million years from now when the earth drifts into the sun
We will all go mingling in the heat as if we all are as one
And when it supernovas and fades into the dark
It will be as the explosion that gave everything its start
In that moment man and God and universe will mesh
And in our final entropy we’ll find our final rest.
